Helen Milen works with cloth, colour and the changing landscape.

At the heart of her practice is an environmentally considered approach to weaving, using only natural fibres including British wool, linen and organic cotton. Increasingly, Helen works with naturally dyed yarns, hand-dyed in her garden studio using plants she grows, gathers and carefully sources throughout the seasons.

Her work sits somewhere between architecture and landscape — drawn to the quiet geometry of buildings, the way they meet their surroundings, and the shifting rhythm of rural, urban and coastal places.

Layers of texture, colour and pattern are built through the act of weaving, allowing each piece to hold both structure and spontaneity.

Textiles made slowly. Made to be looked at closely. And, perhaps most importantly, touched.
