ABOUT
Inge Bos is a painter whose works unfold in series, each canvas or panel forming part of a wider conversation. She often works on multiple pieces simultaneously, allowing them to influence one another in a quiet cross-pollination. Sketches, photographs, and texts form the beginnings of her process, but just as often it is the act of painting itself—and the texture of the wood panel beneath—that dictates what emerges.
For Inge, the choice of surface is integral. The grain of the wood, its warmth and vulnerabilities, becomes part of the image. Oil paint is absorbed into it, sometimes vanishing like a memory, sometimes reappearing with new clarity elsewhere. The result is a delicate play of presence and absence, a notation of time recorded in paint and wood.
Her work centres on figures and their shifting environments: portraits of growth, of inner journeys, of states of becoming. They are images that reveal and conceal, that seem to change even as we look at them. Fleeting yet resonant, they speak of memory, imagination, and the silent processes of transformation that shape both landscape and self.
