JANE BEVAN
Natural Sculpture
ABOUT
Based in Derbyshire, Jane Bevan creates sculptural works from the quiet offerings of the natural world. Each day she walks through ancient woodland, gathering the overlooked and discarded—thorns, bark, feathers, seeds, acorn cups—materials that hold a wealth of colour, pattern, and texture when seen with attentive eyes. These fragments, marked by irregularities and tiny imperfections, are transformed through her hands into vessels, sculptures, and collages: intricate works that honour the fragile beauty of what is so often underfoot.
Her practice is deeply inspired by museum collections and historic sites, from the Pitt Rivers Museum to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. There is a sense of archaeology in her approach: a reverence for objects that carry stories, a desire to preserve what might otherwise vanish. Each piece is a quiet act of repair, of noticing, of weaving nature back into art.
