Aimee Holt is a ceramicist working under the name Carrick — meaning “rock” — drawn from a stretch of coastline near her rural Galloway home, where her creative roots first took hold.
Her vessels are shaped by hand — thrown and built slowly — their forms guided by the raw, untamed beauty of the Scottish shore. The rough grain of rock, the shifting greys of sea and sky, and the deep, grounding tones of the land are carried into each piece. Some surfaces are left partly unglazed, an echo of coastal stone, their brooding, earthy textures mirroring the ruggedness from which they came.
Her work is simple, minimal, and steeped in tradition. No two pieces are alike — each an invitation to slow down, to hold something of the land in your hands, and to make ritual of the everyday.
