Effortless Shape. Shifting III
JULIET GUTCH +ALICE FOX. Collaboration
Sycamore and Bindweed.
Not everything at a table needs to sit upon it.
Suspended above GATHER, Juliet Gutch and Alice Fox’s three Effortless Shape-Shifting works bring movement, shadow and a little of the outside world into the room.
Sycamore gives each piece its quiet structure; bindweed, gathered from Alice’s allotment, twists and binds around it. One material shaped, another gathered. Neither entirely controlling the other.
As autumn pulls us indoors, we loved the idea of something still carrying the unruliness of the garden above the table — shifting gently with the air as people gather beneath it. A collaboration between makers, materials and the landscape beyond the room.
