A pair of raw fleece coasters made in the spring of 2026.
Tactile and textural, these coasters from the Mo Ghleann (‘my glen’ in Gaelic)
collection, are miniature, handwoven impressions of my Highland flock –
showcasing the natural colours of the fleeces grown by the sheep.
A robust, functional piece of design for your home, I do think of them as miniature
rugs; they are made in just the same way as my larger pieces and woven using
leftovers from the bigger projects.
This pair of Byre coasters – my floor loom sits in what was once a cowshed in the
old farm steading where I live – is made from the soft curled grey fleece from one
of the Gotland ewes we like to call The Professor, for the dark colouring around her
eyes that look like spectacles and her ever quizzical expression.
Handwoven from raw, unspun wool in Inverness-shire, Scotland by Julia Rebaudo.
